Community Open Arts at the Cabin
On Friday 8th December we opened the Therapy Cabin doors to host a free, festive Creative Workshop set in our beloved Queens Wood. The sun shone on a crisp winter day, gentle music played and the cabin twinkled with Christmas lights.
A group of 8 women, some locals and others new to the area, spent all afternoon busily making natural Christmas decorations and cards inspired by the woods in winter and sharing stories. Art works emerged that reflected both personal experiences and the group spirit. It seemed that our spontaneous collective mural, brought balance to our woodland setting, by bringing in elements of fire, water and the deep oceans.
The cabin created a safe haven for us to meet and share an afternoon of open and free art making. One visitor told us that she had just seen the sign in passing, and followed her nose in. She ended up staying for 3 hours!
Another said, “I spend too much time on my own, so I thought I’d come along and see.” While we also heard from one lady who was having trouble sleeping during this stressful time in her life and found the cabin to be a welcoming calming space to relax in.
We were thrilled to introduce the local community to all the wonderful creative and therapeutic activities going on at the Therapy Cabin ( www.therapycabin.co.uk) and look forward to keeping everyone updated via the website about more events in 2018!
